Today we will be working on the proper usage of the homophone THERE, THEIR, and THEY’RE. Please see the link below that will bring you to my QR code site. Students will be reading short passages and will have to decide which “THERE” to use!
Be sure to add your name to the slot you want for conferences! Thank you.
Please be sure that you are folliwng our google slide below that documents all of the read aloud’s we have done this year so far. We have already read so many picture books aloud! We love reading. Make sure to ask your child which one was their favorite and why!
Today we Skyped with a class in Pennsylvania about Fish in a Tree. Students drew pictures of characters in the book and the other students had to guess who their characters were. The details the students added to their drawings were great! The details they added showed us they are listening to the details of the story. We loved FISH IN A TREE!
We are finishing up our Global Read Aloud. We have enjoyed this journey. The kids have loved the book and the message that comes along with it. We closely read the lyrics to “cool kids” by Echosmith. We talked about what the lyrics meant, and how they relate to the main character in the story, Ally.
The song promotes the fact that you don’t need to be a certain type of kid to be happy. The lyrics question the need to be a “cool kid” and points out its best to be yourself.
Please see video below and be sure to talk to your child about this at home.
Today we started working on Animoto video’s. Animoto is a cloud-based video creation service that produces video from photos, video clips, and music into video slideshows. The kids are totally engaged and so excited to make videos. Yesterday and today I introduced the program and showed them how to create a video. The students were then able to play around with it. They learned how to upload pictures and add captions. Please excuse misspelled words as today was just a practice run. We are so excited to use this program more to create book trailers, summaries, etc.
